Werkpaar

You want something made really well. Someone in Germany can make it.

Werkpaar connects people who have an idea with the makers who can produce it: manufactories, craft businesses, workshops of the German Mittelstand and labs. For small runs from about 50 pieces, with checked makers and a sample before the order.

Werkpaar starts once enough people on both sides take part.

How it is meant to work

1

Describe it

What you need, how many, by when and on what budget. A short questionnaire replaces the long emails to makers who never reply.

2

The right makers

Werkpaar suggests two or three makers who were checked beforehand and are glad to take small quantities.

3

Sample, then the run

First a paid sample, then the order. Price, date and acceptance are agreed in writing before work starts.

Questions

Is Werkpaar a marketplace like Alibaba?

Werkpaar shows a small number of checked makers and handles every request one by one, so that a small run actually gets accepted. Large catalogues with thousands of listings already exist.

From what quantity?

From about 50 pieces up to a few thousand. For a single piece, a craft business near you is the best place to go.

What does it cost?

Nothing while we test. The plan is that makers pay a small share of the orders placed through Werkpaar. Whoever has something made pays the maker's price.

When does it start?

Once enough people on both sides have signed up. Everyone on the list hears first.
