Fashion Rental

Airbnb for your wardrobe, run by your local dry cleaner.

Peer to peer fashion rental keeps failing on logistics: meet ups are awkward, shipping is slow, cleaning is inconsistent. The fix is to put the local dry cleaner at the center of every loop.

The owner drops the piece off at a participating dry cleaner. The renter picks it up there. After use, the renter drops it back; the cleaner cleans, inspects, and stores it for the next loop.

The summary I wrote when I first noted this idea down:

Airbnb but for clothing — cooperating with local dry cleaners for the drop-off and pick-up. This offers convenience for both sides of the rental agreement, professional care for the clothing, and a new source of income for dry cleaners while building brand awareness.

How it would work

Owners list pieces with photos and price. Renters book by date. The platform routes everything through the nearest participating cleaner, which handles drop off, pick up, professional care, and damage inspection.

Cleaners earn a per loop fee and get foot traffic from a younger customer base they normally never see.

Damage is handled like a hotel: the platform holds a deposit and the cleaner is the neutral inspector.

Who it is for

Owners with high quality pieces they wear two or three times a year. Renters who want occasion wear without the wardrobe overhead. Dry cleaners who want a second revenue stream without changing their workflow much.

Why now

Rental fashion as a category has been growing for years but the unit economics keep breaking on logistics. Anchoring on existing dry cleaners turns a logistics problem into a partnership.

Dry cleaners are quietly disappearing as work clothing becomes more casual. They need a new reason to exist.

FAQ

Questions people usually ask.

What stops people from stealing the clothes?
Deposit on file, ID verified at the cleaner, and a clear damage and loss policy. Same trust model as Airbnb.
What categories work best?
Occasion wear: suits, dresses, coats. High value pieces with low frequency of use. Everyday clothing is too low margin.
How does the dry cleaner sign up?
Light onboarding: a simple kit for tagging, a tablet for the app, and a per loop revenue share. The form below also takes cleaner sign ups.
Is this in competition with HACOY or other brands?
No. The platform is brand agnostic and is not run by any apparel brand. It is closer to a logistics layer than a fashion business.
Which city would you launch in first?
Munich, because the density of high quality dry cleaners and high quality wardrobes is unusually good.
